Jim Lee

Vice President, Americas Global Partner Solutions & Sales at Microsoft

Jim is the VP of the Americas Global Partner Solutions and Sales organization for Microsoft. In this capacity, Jim has accountability for over 70B of Microsoft partner-driven Americas revenue. Jim is a natural seller, helping to enable co-selling and partner impact though driving a partner plus field enabled culture. His partner leadership spans US, Canada and Latan America coverage within Microsoft’s top Global System Integrators (GSIs), Enterprise System Integrators (ESIs) and Small Medium Corporate / SMB System Integrators.

In his previous role as VP of Consulting for Microsoft, his team served the organization by driving strategy, industry solution/sales enablement, delivery enablement, and partner/channel management. The U.S. Services Strategic Pursuit team was also under his leadership.

In 2010, Jim brought his extensive industry expertise to Microsoft where he led the U.S. Services State and Local Government and Education (SLGE) business. He focused on transforming how Microsoft went to market in providing consulting and support services. His creation of a new sales model and a deep focus on building industry solutions centered on repeatability and predictability to better serve customers and the marketplace. From 2013 – 2016 Jim took on the role as the U.S. Services Chief of Staff helping manage the $3 billion-dollar business. In 2016, he transitioned into the role of the East Region General Manager focusing on financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, insurance and sports.

Over the years, Jim has worked and led businesses for various large organizations. Prior to Microsoft, he worked with Sun Microsystems (which was subsequently acquired by Oracle) as the U.S. General Manager for Public Sector. He also worked at Qwest Communications (subsequently purchased by Century Link) where he was the U.S. Custom Solutions Hosting Manager (Managed Services) and led a team that served both the Commercial and Public Sector marketplace. Jim is passionate about leveraging technology to bridge the digital divide, which was fueled by his work at the World Bank in the late 1990s, where, as the regional Technology Manager for Africa and portions of Europe, he and his team brought technology to developing countries.

Jim went to Virginia Union University (HSBC) his first 2 years of college and then transferred to the University of Arkansas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He also received Executive Training from Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education. He has founded two start-up companies and is a board member of the DC Police Foundation and committee member helping Paralyzed Veterans of America. Jim also enjoys motivational speaking to help people focus on the power of the mind to achieve life goals with a focus on health, family, and work. He mentors professionals inside and outside of Microsoft.
